justellemJimsaidhello asked: I have about 5500-6000 dollars in debt to pay off and it is effecting my credit score BIG TIME!! I am planning a way to pay it off myself by the end of this year. How long will it be until my credit score improves? How high can it improve and will old credit history/scores show up on a report in say, February?
In addition, my car was repossessed in Nov. 2005. The rest of the lease payments were payed off. Can this be taken off of my credit?

Eddie Cacciatore, Private Eye asked: My credit scores are surprisingly (to me) pretty good. Are they based at all on so many other people’s scores going down?

T.J asked: I am currently monitoring my credit report from the 3 credit bureaus. I filed bankruptcy almost 2 years ago and I currently have no balances on any of the 4 credit cards I have and have never been late on a payment to them. I monitor my credit report with Experian and I now have a 620 credit score. With experian I have seen a steady increase in my credit score since I filed my bankruptcy. With the other two agencies, I haven’t seen much of a change. Experian is at 550 and Transunion is at 505. I have checked my report with all 3 bureaus and they all have the same information. Can anyone tell me why there is such a difference in the three credit scores? As of right now, I have $100 balances. I pay all my bills on time and from everything I’ve read, a discharged bankruptcy from 2 years ago should have my credit back to about the 650 -670 range. Am I missing something?

brian f asked: If Trans Risk is a subsidary of Trans Union, why would I have a 100 point difference in credit scores between them? The Trans Risk is 100 points lower than the Trans Union.

Dr. Ernest J Folk asked: With the economy down and it impossible to get credit. Do you think it is a good idea to lower the credit standards so that it is easier to get credit. For example. Those that currently have high credit scores should be able to pay no interest on any loans. And those that have fair credit scores should enjoy the low interest rates of the people that had excellent credit. And for those that have poor credit, they should have decent rates, not sky high rates. In other words if they get rid of high interest on loans, do you think the economy will improve?

musedrinkingmercury asked: I have my 3 scores ranging from 680-703.
I am applying for a credit card and am wondering if those scores are good enough to obtain one.
I have student loans, one credit card with 3/4 of the credit line used, a charge card with half of the credit line used, and another charge card without any charges or a balance.
I’m just worried that since my credit card is near its max that I won’t get approved for another card I’m applying for.
Help?

smiley asked: I’m in the process of moving and buying a car and I shopped around for loan rates and people require credit checks for each loan inquiry, housing apps, and even to get DSL internet. I almost think it’s wrong to lower credit scores. anyone have any idea how much credit checks impact credit scores? Thanks!

samide2001 asked: I am tired of paying $700 in rent. So, I am looking for houses to but that will hopefully give me a better monthly payment.
My question is: Can I get a mortgage for a $59,900 house with my credit scores being 620, 573, and 571?
My roommate - who would be moving with me - has excellent credit (way over 700) but no current employment. I have a great job that I have been at for almost a year and earn $34,000. My monthly debt is around $350 (not counting rent).
We have a $4000 down payment for whatever we do. I also have check stubs for the last 10 months of paying $700 rent.
We have to do something because our lease will soon be up. So, waiting for my credit scores to go up will not be possible.
My roommate would be on the mortgage with me. She is out of work because she went back to college full time. Before she started school she was with the same company for over a year and a half. She has student loans which - in the writing of the loan - states that she is allowed to use the loan for housing since she lives off campus.
I am currently working with a law firm that does credit repair, but do not have the time to wait for the firm to help build up my credit before I either have to move or renew my lease.
